This folder was curated by Bing for Shannon Toribio, the curator of the Manongs exhibit at Casa de la Guerra from 2024-2025. Shannon Toribio is a UCSB PhD candidate studying religion. There are ten items in this folder. Contents include lecture materials, research papers, interviews from the Aradanas family, and a book skeleton from Bing's trip to the Philippines.

Pedro's materials relate to his immigration from the Philippines to America during the manong generation in the early 1920s (reflective of Filipino migration patterns throughout America, specficially along the west coast, based on labor demands). This folder contains 9 sub-folders of photographs, each relating to a specific gathering or family member. These photographs depict Lompoc's Filipino Community from the 1940s until the early 2000's. Photographs were taken at the Philippine Island Market in Pismo Beach, of Filipino fraternities, photographs from military service during WW2, and private family photos.

Scope and Contents

This handbook was collected by Clarito "Bing" Aradanas during his time as a docent for the Carlos Bulosan Historical Museum in the early 2000's. This contains articles related to the Manong generation and experience, particularly Filipino migrant labor conditions and struggles specific to agriculture and canneries. The back of this packet includes notes, such as phone numbers and physical descriptors, written by Bing, most likely used to help remember people.

Scope and Contents 11 photocopied newspaper clippings about Filipinos in the Santa Maria area. 10 clippings were from the 1930s and discussed themes of interracial courting, violence between Filipino and White men, and labor struggles regarding pay, unions, and dynamics between Japanese, Filipino, and Mexican laborers. This folder mostly contains materials created and used by Clarito "Bing" Aradanas for his presentation at the First International Babaylan Conference of 2010, photographs taken during this conference, as well as materials collected from the conference. This event was organized by the Center for Babaylan Studies and hosted at Sonoma State University. There are also drawings from this event, printed directions, and contact and biographical information of speakers.
