Three archives boxes containing thirty years of weekly local history columns written by Mrs. Rouse for the Santa Barbara News-Press newspaper, approximately 1,500 articles. A fourth archives box contains indexes to the columns, autobiographical notes, a selection of columns on the Riviera district where Mrs. Rouse lived, and working notes and drafts of columns.

Abstract

The collection consists of portraits and prints of Santa Barbara citizens who have been active and influential in the work of preserving Santa Barbara's history. They were photographed by Walter Douglas in his home studio between 1996 and 2002. The collection also consists of corresponding oral history interviews with the portrait subjects.
