Scope and Contents In 1844 Anastacio Chaboya received a land grant along the Cosumnes and San Joaquin rivers. Before he died in 1852, he filed a claim with the Land Commissioners office for the grant. Unbeknownst to him, Chaboya's wife had sold their land to Charles Weber. Chaboya therefore included in his will a wish to satisfy a debt of $5,000 to Weber, who had paid his wife for the land. Since Chaboya had not intended to sell the land, he wanted his heirs to repay Weber with cattle he was owed by Joaquin...
