Early days in Santa Barbara and records of the Nidever family
Content Description
This short unpublished family history was created by George Brinkerhoff (1860-1926), the grand-nephew of Captain George Nidever, as a result of a Nidever family reunion in June 1924. The history covers well-known stories about George Nidever, such as otter hunting along the California coast, his rescue of the lone woman of San Nicholas Island, as well as lesser known recollections about life in Santa Barbara, Montecito and Carpinteria during the mid 1800s. A list of descendents of Ebenezer Nidever and Rhoda Ann Perry is included in the history.
